Blair Butterfield is an artist and herbalist whose interdisciplinary practice weaves together visual art, plant medicine, and regenerative land work as pathways to healing. Her work is grounded in a reverent relationship with the earth—one that sees land as kin, culture-bearer, and teacher.
Born and raised in Macclenny, Florida, Blair considers the swamps, pinewoods, and coastal plains of Florida her first family and formative guide. Her creative and botanical practice is shaped by this intimacy with place—and by the ache of its loss. Forced to leave Florida due to rising costs, environmental collapse, and the pervasive use of toxic agrochemicals, Blair holds a deep solastalgia for the lands that shaped her, and her work continues to speak from and to that grief.

She holds a Master's degree in Interdisciplinary Arts with a focus on regenerative culture throughout the Americas. Since 2009, Blair has been an advocate for autonomous food systems, ethical plant economies, and the revival of traditional medicine. She is the founder of PlantLust Botanicals, a company dedicated to seasonal and small-batch herbal products that source ingredients through restorative farming practices and agroforestry projects around the globe.

From 2019–2024, she worked in collaboration with a Peruvian NGO that partners with native communities to reforest degraded rainforest lands. As part of this work, she created portraits of medicinal and spiritual plants—visual offerings that accompany the production of non-timber forest products such as essential oils, resins, and oleoresins. These paintings have been featured in publications about Peruvian medicine traditions, in the Ecotopian Library traveling exhibition, and in ethnobotanical profiles exploring plant-human relationships.

Blair's art is an invocation—of memory, earth connection, and decolonial futures. She continues to consult on regenerative self-care and lifeways, while teaching, writing and making work that honors the wisdom of plants, landscapes, and communities.
